Educational Objectives

Following completion of the elective, students will be able to integrate their knowledge base during their anatomy and physiology courses as it pertains to disorders and diseases of the ear, nose, throat, head, and neck.

Schedule/Format

Clinical observership and focused didactics. The students will attend a weekly afternoon clinic (Wednesday afternoons, 1-5pm) observing otolaryngologists in the clinic. At the completion of the clinic, a focused didactic or synthesis of observations will occur. Other optional opportunities to observe surgery are also provided.

Method of Evaluation

Evaluation of the self-directed learning project is based on an assessment of the student's professionalism, communication skills, and physical exam skills by the attending physicians.
